I have compiled a list of ways to market your site both online and off. I am always looking for new and creative ways to advertise. If you have an idea that isn't listed, please submit it to me via email. If I add your idea to this page, I will offer you an ad in one issue of my newsletter.

Online Advertising

  • Banners & buttons: There are many sites that allow you to place an banner or button on their site for a fee.
  • Include your web site info in the signature of all your emails & posts on message boards.
  • List your business free on Moms Market. Simply subscribe to their newsletter and email them to include your listing! Not only do you get a free ad, but also a great newsletter written specifically for wahm's! Subscribe here.
  • Free classified ad sites: There are many of these online. A couple to start are Free Classifieds and Classifieds For Free
  • Paid classifieds: For more a targeted audience, At Home Mommy's will list you on their classifieds for $5 for 4 weeks.
  • Pay-Per-Click Emails: There are many paid email company's that will send your ad to their members for a fee. There are also lots of paid email auctions on Ebay.
  • Pay-Per-Click Search Engines: These are engines that allow you to bid for the highest rankings. A couple to check out are Google and Overture.
  • Start a newsletter: This offers a great means of free advertising for your site. Some great sources to check out are Topica, Your Mailing List Provider and Yahoo Groups.
  • Write an article: You can promote your site in articles. Just make sure your article has some actual content and is not just a sales pitch. At Home Mommy's will gladly take article submissions. You can also submit articles to Family Content.
  • Participate in link exchange programs like the one on At Home Mommy's.
  • Sponsor a contest. At Home Mommy's is currently seeking sponsors.

Offline Advertising

  • Put your flyers on bulletin boards at the grocery stores
  • Purchase a car decal such as one from Signs by Tina.
  • Put your logo on a shirt and wear it as much as possible
  • Write a press release
  • Put your flyers on windshields
  • Turn the tables on tele-marketers who call your house.
  • Mom Pack: These are packs of information people send out to their customers that will include your brochures/cards. At Home Mommy's offers a mom pack. You can also check out Mom Pack.com
  • Ideas on how to use your business cards:
    • Place a bunch in public bathrooms
    • Put them on bulletin boards
    • Leave them on the sinks of public restrooms
    • When giving your number to anyone (even when it's not business related)
    • At Halloween, staple them to the goodie bags you pass out
    • Leave one in the shopping cart at the grocery store
    • Hand one to moms you pass on the street or in the store
    • Insert one in every mailing/bill you send out
    • Leave one with your tip in restaurants
    • Insert them in books at the library
  • Write an e-book
  • "Recycle" your old magazines by placing a "compliments of" label on the cover and leaving them in waiting rooms.
  • Buy cheap school supplies and donate them to low income families then write a press release about it.
  • Place a drawing box at a local shop. Winner rreceives a gift certificate.
  • Make magnetic business cards.
  • Instead of leaving a cash tip at a restaurant, leave a bag of samples of products you sell (don't forget to leave your business card as well).
  • Speak to groups
  • Join community groups (you may be able to find some on the Women's Calendar.
  • Instead of sending sales letters to potential customers, send funny greeting cards.
  • Do an internet radio interview such as with Mary Goulet.
  • When giving gifts and presents, give one of your own products! This is a great marketing tool, it shows the recipient what a great product you have.
